Juneteenth is the celebration of the end of slavery that was delivered by General Granger to the State of Texas, informing slaves and slave masters that the war was over and that all men, women and children of color were free. A celebration began on that day, June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas and is recognized as a celebrated day among African Americans across America every year.
